Illegal occupancySometimes, tenants share their rooms or combi-houses with a partner (and child). According to the caretaker, this is happening with increasing frequency. In addition, we also receive reports about this from other tenants.Prohibited This is prohibited on the grounds of the (General) Tenancy Terms and Conditions and the Tenancy Rules. There are various reasons for this. Over occupancy regularly causes inconvenience for fellow tenants. Besides noise nuisance, the shared facilities are overtaxed by the extra occupants, who are not entitled to use them. This could cause others to become irritated with persons who do not belong in the corridor. Additionally, the building is designed for a maximum number of users. A permit for this maximum number has been granted by the government. More importantly, the escape routes were built to enable all tenants to flee the building in case of a disaster. Over occupancy endangers the possibilities of escape for you and for the other tenants. Measures For the above reasons, we will take action when we encounter an over-occupancy situation. The extra occupant will be asked to vacate the room within two weeks. If the occupant refuses to comply with this request, we will consider instituting legal proceedings, which could also mean that the tenant in question would have to vacate the premises. Options It is possible that the tenant and his/her partner (and child) could find another accommodation. At Idealis: If both the tenant and his/her partner belong to the Idealis focus group, they could register for a combi-house. For international students who register via the Central Student Administration, the partner does not have to meet the registration conditions. It is not permitted to live in combi-houses with children. If you would like to know whether you meet the (registration) conditions and how long the waiting time is, you should contact the Housing Services department by telephone on (0317) 47 25 01. Accommodation elsewhere: Tenants who wish to live together with their partners (and children) should contact the Housing Association in Wageningen by telephone on (0317) 47 16 00, to find out whether they may register for an accommodation. In addition, house seekers can try to find accommodations in the private market. They can then search the newspapers for advertisements in which accommodations are offered. You can also find addresses on our website of other accommodation offers. Reporting over occupancy If you are aware of a case of over occupancy, please report this to Idealis. |
