Guidelines for organizing activities in and around Idealis buildings

Residents and their guests sometimes like to organize activities, such as a party or a "stair race". Of course, tenants should be able to organize such activities. However, it is important to ensure fire safety at such times and to avoid inconveniencing others. For this reason, Idealis has established guidelines for organizing activities in and around the building complexes.

Idealis guidelines
Activities may be organized in the corridors as long as they are small scale, safety is guaranteed and the activities do not inconvenience the other tenants. One important condition is that the escape routes are kept free. For example, you might like to give a birthday party and invite some friends over. However, it will no longer be possible to organize a party with several tenants that is attended by tens of other people. In part, this is because fire-safety regulations forbid it. We should also point out that tenants are responsible for the behavior of their guests, both inside the buildings and on the grounds.

In principle, it is not allowed to stage events in the common areas, such as the stairwell. Escape routes must be kept open at all times so that, in the event of a disaster, tenants can leave the building on time and the emergency service can provide help, if necessary. Idealis may make exceptions if the activities do not constitute a danger or cause damage, if no inconvenience results, if the escape routes remain free and the activity is suitable for our student buildings. Idealis could require you to apply for a permit from the fire brigade for a particular activity. In such cases, you would have to make the application yourself.

Idealis' meeting rooms (in the Dijkgraaf, Hoevestein and Asserpark buildings) are primarily intended for organizing parties. The manager of a meeting room should ensure that there is no inconvenience (noise pollution), that the maximum number of persons allowed is not exceeded and the drinks and catering laws are upheld. If you would like to use the meeting rooms, you should contact the pub manager concerned.

No activities may be held in the parking lot, garden or on the grounds of the buildings, unless Idealis gives permission to do so. Idealis could give permission if the activity does not constitute a danger or could cause damage, does not cause inconvenience and is a suitable activity for our student buildings. In all cases, you will personally have to apply for a permit for the activity from the municipality of Wageningen.

Application procedure
If you wish to organize an activity, you must submit an application in writing to the Housing Services staff member responsible for your building complex. This person will process your application and notify you as soon as possible.
