SublettingHow does subletting work?If you are living temporarily outside of Wageningen, for example because of work placement, it will be possible to sublet your room. You remain responsible for your room, for paying the rent and for any shortcomings of the subtenant. You should use the form, Permission to Sublet, to submit your request for subletting. After being approved by us, this form will also serve as the subletting agreement. Before submitting requests, consult the conditions for subletting and procedure to be followed ATTENTION: For subletting a furnished room, you need permission from WUR (SSC). 'Furnished rooms' are rooms with furniture provided by Idealis. These rooms are rented out to international students. Without permission from WUR (SSC) Idealis cannot give permission for subletting such a room. Rooms to sublet: Housinganywhere.com Tenants who want to sublet their rooms can place advertisements on this platform. This is an independent website created by students. Wageningen University, WSO and Idealis support this initiative wholeheartedly. Click on housinganywhere to view advertisements from and for tenants/house seekers Looking for a subtenant or a room to sublet Idealis does not mediate in the search for subtenants or in rooms to sublet. With the University of Wageningen, we support use of the search site, Housingsanywhere.com. This is an independent platform used by nearly all universities in the Netherlands to help match the supply and demand for rooms. You can place an ad at that site with all the information about the room you want to sublet. Once you have found someone who wants to rent your room during your absence, the procedure described above will apply. Illegal subletting In cases of illegal subletting/renting, we shall petition the district court to dissolve the rental agreement with the tenant responsible and the subtenant. The court judgement will result in the tenant and illegal tenant being evicted. The tenant will also have to pay the costs of the legal proceedings. Finally, the illegal tenant will lose his or her registration as a room hunter with Idealis. |
