Moving into your unfurnished accommodationGeneral You may want to paint the walls or lay carpeting when you move into your unfurnished accommodation. You can do this as long as you keep the guidelines in mind. If you have any doubts, please ask the caretaker for advice or consult the rules and regulations booklet. You can also use these guidelines when you vacate the room in due course to ensure the accommodation is left neat and tidy. It should be obvious that you should leave your accommodation clean and undamaged. Keys When signing your tenancy agreement, you can pick up the keys at the desk of the Idealis office at Duivendaal 1. You have to check your accommodation, according to the guidelines and the form 'moving into your unfurnished room'. If, after inspecting the accommodation, you are not satisfied with the state of the accommodation, you need to report this to your caretaker within five days of arrival. He will decide if any repairs need to be carried out. If you do not report any defects, we will assume that you approve the state of your accommodation. Taking over furniture It is possible to take over furniture or soft furnishing from the previous tenant. To avoid misunderstandings, you should make an agreement with the previous tenant concerning the furniture to be taken over. You can collect such a form from the caretaker. Don't forget to give a copy of the agreement to the caretaker. After taking over, you assume responsibility for the furniture. When you vacate the accommodation behind, you will have to remove this furniture, unless the next tenant is willing to take it over. Taking over the keys It is not allowed to take over the keys from the previous tenant. This avoids misunderstandings between the previous and new tenant and Idealis about damage to the accommodation and who is responsible for it. When you take over the keys directly from the previous tenant, all responsibilities will be yours. You lose your right to report damage of the accommodation. Insurance Idealis cannot be held responsible for any damage to your home furnishings (i.e. furniture). We, therefore, recommend that you take out fire and theft insurance, as well as a third-party liability insurance. Idealis offers its tenants good, inexpensive fire and theft insurance that protects you against fire, water, theft and burglary damage. For more information or to apply, please visit our website: I am a tenant/fire and theft insurance. Self-fitted facilities It is possible that the previous tenant added facilities to the accommodation, without permission from Idealis. It is the responsibility of the previous tenant to dismantle the added facilities. If you wish to take them over, Idealis will not give permission for this. Questions or remarks If you have any questions pertaining to this information, please contact your caretaker. © July 2008 |
