Welcome to the AsserparkCaretakerMr. E. van Meteren is the caretaker at the Asserpark. He is responsible for the daily routine and is the first person to address if you have questions or (maintenance) problems. His office hours are Tuesdays from 8.00 to 8.30. During the rest of the week, on weekdays, a sign on his door will indicate if he is in or out. If he is in, you can walk in and consult him. The caretaker's office is located downstairs. You can also reach him by phone at (06) 53 64 36 00 and by e-mail at evmeteren@idealis.nl. Building chairperson and corridor representative In theory, each corridor has a representative and every building a building chairperson. The building representatives form the tenant organisation SFO and promote the interests of the tenants as a whole. If you have any questions, problems or suggestions concerning your housing, you can contact your corridor representative or your building chairperson. The name and address of the building chairperson can be found on the bulletin board in the lobby of your building. Internetconnection Every room has a high-speed Internet connections (free of charge). Bicycles and motorcycle sheds Aside from the open bicycle shed, there is a lockable shed underneath the building. You can get access with your corridor key. There is also a motorcycle shed on the side of the building. You have to contact the caretaker to get a key for this shed. Please do not take your (motor-)bike to your corridor and leave it in the hallway. Obstructions are not allowed in the hallway and can be hazardous if, for example, a fire should occur and everyone needs to evacuate the building quickly. Parking Cars can be parked near the building. You are not allowed to park in front of the building. The driveway has to remain accessible for ambulance and fire brigade. Annie's On the ground floor of the building there is a meeting place, Annie's, where you can chat with your fellow students while enjoying a drink. The opening hours of the bar are posted on the door. The names and addresses of the staff, who are students, can be found on the bulletin board in the lobby. Washing machine Idealis does not supply a washing machine for corridors with Dutch and international students, however, this does not automatically mean that there is no washing machine available in your corridor. In most cases, students at some time, contributed money to collectively purchase a washing machine. Check with your corridor representative to see what kind of arrangements have been made at your corridor. Cleaning of the corridor The students living at the corridor clean the corridor themselves. Anyone who participates in the cleaning receives a restitution of approximately € 15 every month. Ask your corridor representative for the proper amount. The common shower and sinks Please remove your hair from the shower sink and throw it in the dustbin to prevent obstruction. The kitchen sink and the drain pit have to be cleaned regularly, to prevent blockage of the drainpipe. Please do not throw food remains or refuse down the drain! Waste paper Waste paper is collected every Monday morning between 08.30 and 11.45 hours. Please bundle it or put it in boxes and leave it inside the entrance door of your corridor. Refuse You can dump your refuse in the containers that are located outside the building. There are two containers for organic refuse, one for glass, one for batteries en three containers for all other refuse. Please tie up the refuse bags properly. See also the poster about garbage. For chemical waste and bulk waste please check the refuse calendar of the City Council. Spare key You can buy an extra corridor key from the caretaker; you will need to identify yourself. This key may not be used to allow someone else into your room to live (with you). The furniture Your room is furnished with a bed, desk, chair, wardrobe and bookcase. Curtains and mattress are also supplied. All of these items are part of the inventory and must be left behind when you vacate the room. The furniture in your room has been designed for mobility and sturdiness. The wardrobe and filing cabinet have wheels, so that they can be easily moved. The desk is designed for right and left handed people. You can loosen the screws with a coin and easily flip the top. The bed has a small locker. Service set When you arrive in your room you will find a service set containing a packet of bed linen (a duvet, a duvet cover, pillow, pillowcase and mattress sheet). All these items are your property. You may take them with you when you leave. Radiator In your room there is a radiator with a thermostatically controlled tap. The numbers indicate the heat: a high number indicates a high temperature. Because of environmental considerations the central heating of the building is turned down between roughly 24.00 at night and 6.00 in the morning. Light bulbs The corridor is responsible for buying and replacing light bulbs in the toilet, shower, kitchen and hallway themselves. Fire detector Every corridor has a smoke detector.
