New building Bornsesteeg 2.0

Idealis is in the process of preparing for new construction on Bornsesteeg. At this location, we intend to create a total of 350 student rooms.

The Location

One of the busiest thoroughfares in Wageningen is Bornsesteeg. It serves as a crucial access route from the city center to the university campus. This point along Bornsesteeg is marked by a high-rise building where approximately 600 students live. Idealis has plans to construct two additional residential buildings next to studentcomplex Bornsesteeg, resulting in a total of 350 student rooms. These buildings will be situated where the facility company of Wageningen University and Research (WUR) was formerly located, and where the municipality of Wageningen has a land depot.

New Construction Offers Opportunities for the Surrounding Area

Due to the prominent location of this project, we see opportunities to comprehensively enhance the area and make it a success. In the redevelopment of the site, we are also considering how to make the entrance to the campus more attractive. We will create new parking options for both cars and bicycles to minimize their visibility. Additionally, we aim to strengthen the existing ecological connection that runs from east to west with our new landscape design. The exact locations of the new buildings take into account this ecological connection. Our goal is to preserve as many existing trees as possible. If this is not possible, we will compensate for the trees that are removed elsewhere on our property.

With this plan, we address the urgent need for more student accommodations and can enhance the ecological connection between east and west while improving the campus entrance.

Timeline

The plan is to commence the realization of this project by the end of 2025.
