On January 16, the new student housing complex at Marijkeweg 20 was officially opened.

In the presence of Anne Janssen (alderman) and various other guests, the residents were wished a pleasant time in this new complex, which provides accommodation for 350 students.

Collaboration
What makes this student complex special is the collaboration between fellow student housing providers DUWO and Idealis. The complex was purchased by DUWO and is rented and managed by Idealis. During the official part of the opening, speaker Marije Pruis (partner and senior advisor at Fraey) emphasized the importance of solidarity in the housing sector. Willem de Vreeze (general director of Aedes) highlighted that this collaboration between DUWO and Idealis is a great example of how solidarity can be expressed.

Meeting
Facilitating meetings is a standard part of new constructions for DUWO and Idealis. At Marijkeweg 20, there are three meeting spaces: Rise & Relax, Bake & Bond, and Mix and Meet. These names also have a historical link to the bakery school. The three meeting spaces offer places where residents can come together. During the opening, the residents received two extensive game packages from DUWO and Idealis to use in the meeting spaces. Anneleen Lagae (Chief executive officer foundation DUWO): "We see that our students often use the common areas for fun game nights. With this game package, we want to encourage that even more and hope that students will quickly feel at home."

Future
DUWO and Idealis look back on a successful festive opening. Bart van As (director of Idealis): "It's great that during this festive opening, we were able to officially welcome the residents to their new living environment. An opening is a great opportunity to speak with tenants and hear how they like living in this new complex." With the completion of Marijkeweg 20, Idealis is not done building for students. "In the coming years, new constructions at Mansholtlaan and Bornsesteeg 2.0 are planned. Both are crucial to continue meeting the demand for student rooms," said Bart van As. For the realization of new construction plans, the pleasant cooperation with the municipality of Wageningen is of great value. This was confirmed by alderman Anne Jansen during her speech. Anne Janssen (alderman of Wageningen): "The collaboration between DUWO, Idealis, and the municipality shows how we can build a future together where students feel at home in Wageningen. Projects like Marijkeweg 20 are crucial to ensure that students have a home in Wageningen."

DUWO and Idealis wish the residents of Marijkeweg 20 a pleasant student time in their new rooms.
