On Friday, 31 July, Idealis will welcome the first residents to the fully renovated Asserpark student complex. With the completion of the project, 341 student rooms and 9 PhD apartments are once again available. Following an extensive renovation, the building is ready to provide a new generation of residents with comfortable, sustainable, and affordable housing.
Ready in Time for the New Academic Year
Contractor Coen Hagendoorn Bouw completed the renovation of Asserpark according to schedule. As a result, the first residents will be able to move in from 31 July. Students starting their studies in Wageningen in September will also be able to settle into the renewed complex before the start of the academic year.
All work inside and on the building has been completed. Over the coming months, the outdoor areas will be further landscaped, with these works expected to be finished by early November.
Comfortable and Sustainable Living
The renovation has significantly improved both the sustainability and comfort of Asserpark, while enhancing the overall quality of living. The complex is now equipped with energy-efficient building systems, improved insulation, and high-performance HR++ glazing. These upgrades reduce energy consumption while providing residents with a more comfortable living environment.
The ground floor has also been completely redesigned. Residents can make use of modern communal spaces for studying, relaxing, organising activities, and meeting fellow students. In addition, the building now features a shared laundry facility and upgraded bicycle storage areas.

A Place Full of Memories
In the lead-up to completion, Idealis organised a guided tour for former and current residents as well as local neighbours. The event attracted considerable interest. Many visitors were eager to see the renovated building and shared memories of their student days at Asserpark. Their enthusiastic responses confirmed that the complex holds a special place in the hearts of many Wageningen students.
First Step in a Broader Renovation Programme
Asserpark is the first project in a broader series of renovations planned by Idealis over the coming years. These investments are designed not only to improve sustainability and residential comfort, but also to place greater emphasis on students' wellbeing.
At Asserpark, the larger shared corridors have been replaced with smaller living groups, creating a more intimate residential environment. In addition, the communal spaces throughout the building encourage residents to connect with students beyond their immediate household.
