Rules for maintenance

To ensure our buildings remain in tip-top shape we of course need to conduct maintenance. But we want to avoid getting in your way as much as possible. So here are a few of our guidelines,

1. Is something broken?

Then inform us through our website. We will make sure it gets repaired. Are you dissatisfied about the result? Then please contact your housing manager.

2. Our maintenance is conducted by external companies

This means that you may be interacting with different people. They will follow our rules and be able to identify themselves. Feel free to ask them about this.

3. We do our best to keep things quiet when we can

  • In our maintenance calendar (which you can find both on our website and in the app) you can see which exam and study weeks of the WUR we take into consideration when conducting repairs and maintenance. During these periods (low maintenance) we will only undertake tasks that don’t involve long-term noise disturbances. So you can fully focus on your studies.
  • During the other exam and study weeks we will still be conducting maintenance. We will of course do our best during these periods to plan as little maintenance that involve loud noises as possible. We can not always prevent this though, so keep this in mind.
  • Should there be any unexpected repairs required that cannot wait, such as leakage, then we will obviously repair this immediately regardless of the period.

4. You should experience as little disturbance as possible

That is why we made agreements with our contractors, such as:

  • Not permitting a radio.
  • Shielding your (and our) property from dirt and damage.
  • Leaving the working space clean and tidy at the end of every working day.

5. Keep an eye on your inbox for announcements

We mail you about any repairs and maintenance including details and how you can make an appointment if we need to enter your room. If you downloaded our app then you will receive a notification on your phone a day before the planned maintenance.

6. The rules per living space

There are specific rules on maintenance for your room, your corridor and the general freely accessible areas.

Maintenance in your room

  • Maintenance will take place from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00 and 18.30.
  • If you make an appointment we can come by at an agreed time. If you are not home then we will not enter, but will have to make a new appointment. Take into consideration that this may come with some additional costs.
  • If you do not make an appointment then we will assume you do not mind when we come by during the previously mentioned working hours. We will ring or knock first. Should you not respond then we will enter. We will of course leave your room closed as we found it.
  • In the case of an emergency we can enter your room without your permission.

Maintenance in your corridor
This concerns the living spaces you share with other tenants such as the hallways or kitchen.

  • Maintenance will take place from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00 and 18.30.
  • If there is no other way, then we will conduct maintenance on a Saturday, starting no earlier than 8.00.
  • We will ring or knock first. Should there be no response, then we will open the door to the corridor ourselves.
  • If we meet any tenants in the corridor we will gladly explain what maintenance or repairs we are conducting.

Maintenance in general, freely accessible areas
Consider for instance the staircase, entryway or access path to your building.

  • Maintenance will take place from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.00 and 18.30.
  • If there is no other way, then we will conduct maintenance on a Saturday, starting no earlier than 8.00.
